Pet Portrait Session

How to have an awesome family portrait session with your pet

Grooming!

We like to get dressed nicely, have a shower and wash our hair for our own portrait session and your fur baby would love that too! Make this special for your pets with a trip to the groomers a few days before your session, so your fur baby is looking amazing.

Bring a Helper!

We love our family inclusive pet sessions. For outdoor portraits, it’s good to have a helper (someone who isn’t needed to be in the portraits) for the pet, for when we are doing a few portraits without the fur babies. Even for studio portraits (especially newborn) this is a good idea.

Quiet Location!

If we are not in the BAC Studio, then a quite location is key. This will help us keep the pet’s attention during the shoot. We have some tried and tested locations and times that would suit an outdoor pet session.

Brighton Park, Lake Eden at North Lakes and Mungarra Reserve are three of our favourite, tried and tested Brisbane locations that are perfect for your pet portrait session. Click below to check them out!

Treats and toys!

We do have some treats on hand but some pets do have special diets due to allergies etc.. so make sure you bring some of your pets favourite treats from home too. If your pet has a favourite toy or toys, bring it along. We might not use it to start but if we are struggling to get their attention, it’s a winner.

Exercise!

Arrive early before your session and give your fur baby a small walk before the session, especially if they are quite energetic! This will tire them a little and help contain some of the excitement.

Bonus tip!

Your dog is not too rowdy! We are used to dealing with super energetic dogs and we will still get some great photos even if they won’t sit still! Action shots are our favourite!
