BAC Photography Client Guide

The BAC Photography Experience starts right here!

We specialise in family and newborn photography here in Brisbane and love creating beautiful Wall Art and Keepsake products for our clients to take home and cherish.

Although based out of our North Lakes Studio, we offer outdoor, in-home and of course studio portraits for you and your family.

From our initial contact with you, we want to find out all that we can about you and your family to tailor make your session.

Here are our 4 Steps to an amazing session!

Step 1 – Pre-Session Consultation

We offer either in-studio or phone consultations prior to your session so that we can get to know you, plan out your session and answer any questions you might have. We can go though our products and pricing and offer advice on what to wear for your session.

Step 2 – At the session

Whether the session is in our studio or out and about, we will make you feel comfortable and have fun during your experience. It’s great to get traditional portraits with everyone looking and smiling but it’s equally important to get some more fun and candid images showing the love and connection within your family. Not only do we get ‘the whole family’ portrait but it’s great to get shots of the kids all together and individually, Mum with the kids and dad with the kids too.

Step 3 – The Ordering Appointment

Your ordering appointment is when you come to our studio (if you’re not already there) to view your images and place your order. You can have your ordering appointment on the same day, straight after your session, an hour later or in a few days time.  This is a pressure free environment where we help you to choose your favourite images, find your favourite products and order up amazing artwork for you to take home ready to go on the mantle or hang on the wall. We only offer you one ordering appointment so it’s important that all the decision makers are there so that we can finalise your order that day.

Collection Day

Once your order is complete and ready for collection, we’ll make an appointment for you to call by the studio and collect your amazing products. Depending on what you have ordered, prints will be ready within 2 weeks and Acrylics and Albums will take up to 5 weeks. This is our favourite part. When you get to take home your art work and hang it up on the walls, place it on the mantel and share with family and friends.

OUTDOOR FAMILY PORTRAITS

Choose your favourite park or picnic spot, your favourite beach or family hang out. This can be an ideal spot for your family portrait.

Outdoor portraits are relaxed and fun, the kids can jump and run and parents can chase them down!

Late afternoon provides the best lighting for outdoor portraits, around an hour or 2 before sunset (Referred to by photographers as ‘Golden Hour’). However for families with little ones or busy schedules, we also offer morning sessions around 8 or 9am too as specific locations.

Don’t have a favourite spot?  That’s ok, we have a great selection of favourite places we love to shoot at and are happy to assist you in choosing the perfect location for your family.

IN-HOME SESSIONS

No one is more comfortable than when they are in their own home, so sessions done here are very relaxed and natural. Your home is your castle and it’s a great feeling to have an image up on the wall that was shot in your very own domain.

Sessions in your home can be done at any time of day provided that there is plenty of natural light.

Some great places to photograph in your home include the master bedroom, lounge, rumpus or nursery and of course your own garden.

STUDIO NEWBORN PORTRAITS

Studio portraits are ideal for any weather! You can come to our climate controlled home studio here in North Lakes. We have off street parking, bathroom facilities and everything is all set up and ready for you when you arrive.

From my experience as a mother of twins and 8 years photographing families, I find the best time of day for a Newborn Session is in the morning. Babies seem more settled and fuss less at this time of day.

For your session, we have a selection of different backdrops, blankets and rugs and have a small selection of props to use including wraps, newborn outfits, headbands and baskets.

The studio can accommodate a family of 10 people however for bigger or extended families we recommend an outdoor or In-Home Session.

Brisbane Maternity Portrait

MATERNITY PORTRAITS

Pregnancy is such a special and precious time. There is excitement, maybe a little trepidation and love.

When capturing maternity portraits it is important not to worry about any extra weight that you may be carrying or if you haven’t been feeling the best through your pregnancy. We will ensure that the images are both flattering and beautiful.

Maternity portraits can be done in our North Lakes Studio or at your favourite (or our favourite) outdoor location and we offer combination Maternity and Newborn collections to capture both of these amazing times in your life.

CHILDREN’S PORTRAITS

They change so much from the minute they are born! It s great to not only capture them when they are small, but it is a pure joy to photograph children as they grow and begin to turn into little people.

Any age or stage is great and every child is different and we love to capture it all.

We offer in studio children’s portrait, 1st Birthday celebrations (including cake smash), themed portraits including Little Ballerinas, Aviators or Fairies. We also offer outdoor portraits too, at your favourite spot or ours and of course at flexible times to make sure that the session can fit in between any day time naps etc..

PET PORTRAITS

Part of the family, pet portraits can be with the whole family, just with the kids or just on their own.

Having owned various pets myself I am happy to have them here in the studio and I am used to handling them and have some tricks up my sleeve to help coax them to do what we need.

We also offer outdoor pet portraits too at selected locations around Brisbane that are perfect to show their full exuberant personality.

What a great weekend at the PBC Expo for BAC Photography!

So far this year, Valentine’s weekend was probably one of BAC Photography’s favourites. Belinda, Sinead and Jill got to spend the weekend at their first Pregnancy, Baby and Children’s Expo at the Exhibition and Convention Centre, in South Brisbane.  A lot of people always comment how lucky Belinda is, being able to spend her days creating beautiful memories for people, but also being able to cuddle babies, play with children, take beautiful portraits, and (of course) play with puppies; so, this weekend was another one to add to the list of amazing experiences.  We spent the weekend meeting soon to be parents, animal lovers, growing families and learned about their journeys and experiences that led them to where they are today. Leading up to the Expo Belinda had new wall art printed.  It was the first time that she had metal prints made, and the result was amazing! They were light, glossy and easy to hang, which worked out perfect for the Expo setup.  On the Friday, Belinda set up the stand to showcase some of the best pieces from BAC Photography, displaying the different sizes, materials and options available.  The stand was eye catching and the portraits attracted people’s attention as they walked by.  Everyone loved the metal print of three Labrador puppies sitting in a basket.  It became a conversation starter for families wanting to include animals in their photos. Across the weekend we managed to spend time talking to different vendors and discovering new products.  A huge favourite was Everymite, a healthy, no additive, allergy friendly superspread.  The ladies were lovely and shared some of their brand history and story with us.  We also made friends with the family from the Pain Pod, and ‘borrowed’ their beautiful baby girl for a few hours!  She had given them a hard time the night before, so to give them time to speak to customers, we played with her until Jill managed to get her to sleep.  She had a nice snooze in the pram, at the back of our stand for a few hours. Since the expo Belinda has been busy completing bookings taken across the weekend and we are still trying to get back to everyone.  We are working hard towards catching up and hope to have everyone contacted soon.  In the meantime, if have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. For BAC, I think this weekend was a success, and we will definitely be back again in the future!

Mummy and Me – Studio Portrait

Mum and her son – Nicholas   Anja came to us through National Family Portrait Month. One of our charity programs that we participate in every year. This year we were raising money for BeyondBlue. Little Nicholas was just 4 months old when they came in for their session. Still happy with tummy time but not yet sitting up. Anja had an arm work out to start with not just holding Nicholas but lifting him in the air for some big smiles. When then sat them on the couch and finished with a little cuddle. He was pretty tired by the end… it’s hard work being a model! This was also our third behind the scenes vlog! You can see this film at the bottom of this post. Not only do these give you an insight into session with us but with Anja’s family all in Germany and her unable to travel, it was great to share around also. Mum’s favourite image: Sitting on the couch together – portrait style.  This one will be in the National Family Portrait Month Book BAC’s favourite image: Mum holding Nicolas up in the air on the grey backdrop – what a smile!

Pet Portrait in the North Lakes studio

When Lyndal got in touch, she wanted a beautiful photos of her 3 dogs, Rose, Poppy and Violet. Plus she wanted to incorporate the image of an old dog that had since passed away, in a nice big wall piece. She said on the phone that they were quite difficult at the vet so she wasn’t sure how we would go getting them all together for a photo. I told her not to worry and to leave it to me! The session went fantastic. We got a few beautiful photos of them all together and nice individuals as well and some of them paired up together. I also edited the image of her beloved dog who had already passed away, to include her in the final artwork. Lyndal’s favourite: the three of them in the basket together BAC Favourite: Poppy in the basket with the paw over the side… just chillin’
