Baldwin Family Portrait

Brighton Park

When speaking to the lovely Amanda about her portrait session goals, she mentioned that with her family of four boys being complete, it was so important for her to get a great photo of the entire family and one of the four boys together. With a big family of all boys, that spend a lot of time with extra-curricular sports and activities, it was a bit of a mission to find a suitable time for the session.

We faced bad weather with our first scheduled session, with outdoor shoots we must bow down to Mother Nature and her unpredictable ways, but we were super excited to book a time one afternoon in November, where we were finally able to meet and get Amanda the family portraits she wanted.

Amanda’s eldest son, Josiah, has Autism. It was really important to not overwhelm his senses with the high excitement of his energetic 3 younger brothers.

While encouraging an easy, fun environment to get great images, we also focused on ensuring it all wasn’t too overwhelming for Josiah and paced ourselves will well-timed breaks throughout the session.

The location was the perfect place with lots of room for the 3 younger brothers to have a good run around and get all of their sillies out before we focused on getting some great shots.

Black and white tree portrait

Brighton Park is one of our tried and tested North Brisbane afternoon spots, where the light comes through the trees, giving us amazing lighting for the session. The trees with low branches make for great places to pose big families, and the kids can have a fun time climbing the trees.

With multiple places within the location, we were able to take advantage of the big open field, where the boys could run and jump and just have fun which made for great shots. My favourite images always come from animated and carefree moments, where I can capture the individual personalities of each little human.

As the sun was beginning to set, we moved over to the shoreline of the beach there and captured beautiful images of the whole family. This last image would have to be my favourite of the entire session.
