Photography Location Guide: Suttons Beach
Suttons Beach
Ideal North Brisbane Portrait Location for Amphitheater and Beach Portraits
Overall Rating ★★★★
I have been photographing here for the last 10 years. This is a beautiful location and I have photographed many portraits and weddings here over the years.
Access & Parking ★★★
It is easy to find and to park here. You head all the way to the end of Anzac Avenue and it will flow all the way down to a car park by the Redcliffe surf club. This is the best spot to park as it gives us great variety from the amphitheatre, to the beach. In the amphitheatre there are some big steps that we use and of course we have the option of the beach which has a ramp down onto it if you do not want to take the steps.
Amenities ★★★
There are no toilet facilities near where we meet however if you walk down to the centre of Sutton’s beach there are toilets there by pavilion there along with food and drinks too.
Best time of day for your session ★★★
Afternoon portraits are best here as there is plenty of shade and pretty backdrops to use. Sadly, in the morning there just isn’t enough shade. The only problem with afternoon portraits here, is when the breeze it up, there isn’t a lot of shelter from the wind and it is sometime best to reschedule.
Variety ★★★★
For wedding and family portraits, there is a couple of great little pockets that we use:
- Amphitheatre steps
- Amphitheatre
- Wooden Steps
- Rock wall
- Beach Portraits
Wow Factor ★★★★
I actually love the amphitheatre here. Although the sunset on the beach is awesome, there are plenty of other beach spots we can use along the coast. The best park about Suttons beach is the diversity of the stone wall of the theatre.
In Summary
This Brisbane Portrait location is such a good option for families, weddings, children’s and pets’ portraits. It has great diversity with the backdrops we use and is perfect around sunset.
